Eaker Pl Fire

House Fire August 23 (Black Shift)

Des Plaines FD responded to a house fire early morning on August 23. Crews arrived on scene with fire and smoke showing from the front of the house. An aggressive interior attack put the fire out quickly. No injuries were reported.

Greenleaf Av Fire

Gargage Fire July 31 (Gold Shift)

Crews responded to a garage fire with extention to the house. A quick aggressive attack contained the fire to the garage and limited the damage to the exposures.

I-90 Extrication

One person was extricated from a vehicle crash on I-90 in a construction zone.

River Rd Fire

Garage Fire July 19 (Gold Shift)

Crews were on scene of a fully involved garage fire that caused $30,000 in damage.

Linden St fire

Structure Fire July 16 (Gold Shift)

A fire that started in the basement sent 2 to the hospital before it was brought under control.

Ballard Rd Fire

Structure Fire July 1, 2016 (Red Shift)

A fire broke out in the rear of the structure early in the morning. The fire was caused by hot barbecue coals.

Des Plaines Fire Department responds to explosion in North Maine

Both on duty personnel and members of the Technical Rescue Team responded to a gas explosion in North Maine Fire Protection's district. Click for a related article or pictures from the scene.

Structure Fire 1/4/2016

Des Plaines Firefighters responded to a structure fire this morning. The house suffered serious damage, but firefighters were able to rescue a dog and a cat. Job well done Black Shift. Here is a link to an article about the fire. Click on the picture to see more photos from the scene.

Operation North Pole 2015

A special thank you goes out to everybody who put in so much to name this year's event happen. Thank you DPFD members, outside police and fire departments, and the rest of the volunteers. A lot of time and effort goes into setting up, donating, fundraising, and attending the event. Without all of you, none of this is possible. Basement Fire on Warrington

Great job by Gold Shift on Saturday morning. Crews quickly extinguished a fully involved basement fire with extension into the first floor and attic.

Never Forget

Firefighter Shawn Quigel pays tribute with his bagpipes to the 343 firefighters and 60 police officers that lost their lives on this morning, 14 years ago, at a 9/11 memorial ceremony in Des Plaines. The ceremony took place in downtown Des Plaines next to the 9/11 memorial plaque that includes an actual piece of steel from one of the Twin Towers.

Motorcycle crash with serious injuries



Des Plaines Fire Department responded to a report of a motorcycle accident with serious injuries on 4/29/15 at Golf Rd and Mount Prospect Rd. More information is in the link below.

Structure Fire 4/25/15



Des Plaines Firefighter's responded to a report of a fire in a multi-family residential building on Fifth Ct. First units on scene reported smoke showing. No injuries were reported. Related article below.

April 26, 2015 marks the 53rd anniversary of the only line of duty death to date of the Des Plaines Fire Department. Robert Coombs died of asphyxiation on April 26, 1962 at the age of 33. For more information, visit the link below.
